Drivers of Deforestation

Analyzing the direct and indirect causes of deforestation agents in some territories of the Colombian Amazon.

Land cover and land use changes, including deforestation, are carried out by agents and are due to direct and indirect causes.

The SINCHI Institute, as part of its studies to stabilize colonization processes that are expanding the agricultural frontier over the Amazon forest, has conducted several studies on drivers of deforestation that allow for the characterization of agents, causes (direct and indirect) and predetermined factors. These studies are carried out with an approach that takes three geographical approaches into account: regional (Colombian Amazonia), sub regional (departmental) and local (Municipal).

Study of drivers: direct causes, agents, and underlying causes of deforestation in the Amazon area of the Department of Meta and the municipality of Vistahermosa developed in June of 2016.
