Forest loss is defined as the conversion of forests to another type of land use or the permanent reduction of tree cover, below the minimum threshold of 10%. For its calculation, the land cover maps of the Colombian Amazon produced by the SINCHI Institute at a scale of 1:100,000 are taken as a basis.
