Praderization is defined as the increase in the areas of planted pastures for the establishment of extensive livestock systems, where the felling and felling of natural forest is mainly used, which leads to the transformation of natural covers, which in turn, causes deterioration of their ecological structure. This phenomenon has been occurring in the Amazon continuously and in large areas since the mid-20th century.
For the calculation of Praderization, the land cover maps of the Colombian Amazon produced by the SINCHI Institute at a scale of 1:100,000 are taken as a basis. For more information on the processes, see the Methodology.
